In 1947, designer Christian Dior opens a couture house in Paris. Over the next decade, Dior’s designs earn him international status, appearing on the cover of Time magazine shortly before his death in 1957.
In 1958, Dior’s 21-year old assistant, Yves Saint-Laurent, presents the pyramid-shaped “Trapeze” line on the late-Dior’s behalf – the collection is highly applauded. The strength of the Dior brand grows exponentially for the next five decades under the artistic direction of Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferrè and John Galliano.
Today, the Lady Dior Collection maintains a strong presence on runways in New York and Paris – and is found in boutiques around the globe.
