Victoria Secret: UK London Store Scheduled To Open Summer Of 2012

The super popular lingerie label Victoria’s Secret had announced that they will be traveling across the pond to open its first British store on the renowned corner of New Bond St and Brook St in London during the summer of 2012!

This new store has been talked about since as early as 2007, but a date was never set. To now have VS release this statement confirming the UK store rumors is all too exciting to say the least.

VS will be located at the Pringle store since the British label decided to downsize and launch their e-commerce site in August.

I don’t know about you ladies but I have my angel wings ready!

Forever 21 Expands to the UK

Congratulations Forever 21! In July the successful young woman, men and children’s clothing store will open its first UK store doors to its 50,000 sq ft building in Birmingham.

The size of the outlet makes it the 3^rd largest store in the Bullring Shopping Center after Selfridges and Debenhams, which was one of the reasons why Forever21 chose Bullring over London’s Covent Garden. The city’s size and young age demographics were a determining factor as well.

The LA based clothing store has more than 480 stores in the US and Puerto Rico, with internal operations in Canada, Korea and Japan. Their move to the UK follows the successful expansions made by Apple and Hollister.

Zuhair Murad Spring-Summer 2009 Haute Couture Collection

The Zuhair Murad Spring/Summer 2009 Haute Couture Collection at Paris Fashion Week was a successful experiment based on an aquatic theme. Black and gold were dominant in the first part of the dramatic Le Bal des Sirènes collection. The second half was absolute genius – featuring slender silhouettes in watery shades like turquoise, aqua, marine blue and pale blue ornate with coral motifs.

The sequined patterns on couture gowns and skirts recreated the growth of corals underneath the water. Murad aptly used crystal studded shell patterned accessories to partner with cocktail dresses, skirts, strapless gowns and one-shouldered prom dresses.

Summer Fashion – Street Collection from Pepe Jeans London

The leading denim brand, Pepe Jeans has introduced their Spring 2009 Collection in London. The collection, called “Street”, is specially designed for the summer season.

The Street collection, comprising a wide range of casual day-wear for women , offers refreshing style with a rich color palette. Bright shades like banana yellow, bubblegum pink, strawberry, turquoise, lemon, lilac and baby pink complement the neutral tones of khaki green, beige, black and white.

The colorful folk embroideries found on the tops present traditional needlework in a new light while graphic prints tees reflect modern art trends. A wide range of trendy accessories including bags, caps, belts and socks diversify the Pepe Jeans London Street collection.

Elie Saab Haute Couture Spring|Summer 2009

Elie Saab, the king of red carpet fashion, introduced his Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2009 collection at Paris Fashion Week. This season, the Middle Eastern designer offers a sober and stylish assortment of eveningwear, featuring everything from one-shouldered and strapless numbers to poufy sleeves and ruffles.

Intricate embroideries and crystal works looked fabulous on dusty blue, lilac, ivory and beige. Deviating from his hallmark empire bust line, the designer took a different approach, creating lean silhouettes in silk taffeta, chiffon, satin with brocade and organza detailing.

Gurpreet Pia Fleming Introduces Bian at India Fashion Week Spring|Summer 2009

The Indian fashion industry, known for its rich textile and needlework, has graduated to an international level of fashion recognition thanks to the next generation of designers like Gurpreet Pia Fleming.

Gurpreet (a graduate from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Delhi and FIT, New York) debuted her line at the Lakme India Fashion Week 2009 in Mumbai. Her contemporary collection Bian (translates as “mysterious” in Vietnamese) exuded style and elegance. Western influences were evident, yet the outfits were perfect for modern Indian women seeking both style and comfort.

The luxurious collection was based on fine brocade, cord, silk, taffeta, faux fur and charmeuse. Detachable African stone jewelry transformed the grey and black silhouettes from sober daywear to vibrant eveningwear. However, the highlight of the show was Fleming’s red carpet dresses in a burnished metallic finish, decorated with jeweled accessories.

Gurpreet received a well-deserved response from the young fashion faithful in India.
